Hadrian Primary has been working with Sustrans’ Bike It! team to get more youngsters cycling. Two years ago it had no-cyclists, now it has 70! That’s a big reduction in car journeys and a big improvement in air quality. The school is also in the process of establishing an outdoor classroom and vegetable patches for each class.
Earlier this year its green credentials got a further boost when it was nominated for an annual Evening Chronicle Go Green Award. They were pipped at the post, but their song about protecting the environment brought the house down!
